Personal background
Richard "Rick" Hoover was born May 31, 1952, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1970. He married Robyn "Bobby" Allen on December 17, 1973. They have two sons, Richard A. and J. Ryan, and one daughter, Tammie Hartland, from a prior relationship. They have three granddaughters: Alexis, Marissa, and Audrey Rose.
Professional career
Hoover initially worked in his father's construction business. He relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1977 and had a long career in pest control management with several major national companies, working in technician training and customer relations. In 1998, he and his wife, Bobby, established All R's Pest Management.
Masonic career
Hoover joined Nitram Lodge No. 188 in St. Petersburg in 1994. He served as Worshipful Master in 1998 and as Secretary from 2004 to 2013. He was appointed District Deputy Grand Master in 2003 and served as District Instructor in multiple years. In 2007 he was appointed Grand Standard Bearer.
He was coroneted a 33rd Degree Mason in November 2013. In 2017, on his 65th birthday, he was elected Grand Master of Masons in Florida and served through 2018. He currently serves as Sovereign Grand Inspector General in Florida. His affiliations include the Scottish Rite, York Rite, Shriners, and the Royal Order of Scotland.
Interests
Hoover has umpired youth baseball for more than 35 years. He serves on the board of Skyway Trap and Skeet. His interests include golf, bowling, and collecting Masonic memorabilia.
