Personal background

Dana Oldenburg was born October 24, 1962, in Wayne, Michigan, to Brother Richard H. and Margaret Oldenburg. He grew up in Garden City and graduated from Garden City West High School in 1980.

Musical training

Beginning at age ten, Oldenburg pursued extensive musical education. He trained on trombone and brass instruments before focusing on classical pipe organ instruction. He earned several awards and scholarships for vocal choir training at various colleges.

Military service

Oldenburg enlisted in the U.S. Navy in the summer of 1980 as an Electronics Technician. He later cross-rated to Musician and served in Navy Band Seattle, Washington, performing as trombone instrumentalist in the concert, marching, and jazz bands and as keyboardist and vocalist in rock ensembles throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Civilian career

After military service, Oldenburg worked as a letter carrier for USPS in Southfield, Michigan, then relocated to Florida in 2002. He continued postal work as a Highway Contract Carrier and later worked for Federal Express until retiring in 2017. Since 2020, he has served as Church Organist and Choir Director for St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Inverness, Florida.

Masonic career

Oldenburg joined Freemasonry at Floral City Lodge No. 133 in Florida, progressing through the three degrees in 2007. He has subsequently joined multiple Masonic appendant bodies and has held numerous leadership positions across the Scottish Rite, York Rite, Shriners, and other organizations. He received the Knight Commander of the Court of Honor (KCCH) in 2017 and was inducted into the Knight York Cross of Honour (KYCH) in 2019. He serves as Director of Work at the Valley of Ocala.
